What Planet Are You On?

Friday Night Lecture

Everyone knows that your birthday says something special about your personality. But do you know why? It’s because on the day that you were born a certain planet was powerful in the sky and this planet became your Ruling Planet. To be a Child of a Planet means that you inherit its talents, tastes, and attributes. It also means that you inherit its foibles. Some planets are light and breezy while others are dark and intense. These will be reflected in your character which is why it’s so important to learn about who you are. Understanding your Ruling Planet helps you to map yourself. Each of us is a world replete with continents and oceans; poles and hemispheres. Learn about the world you hail from.

Saturn: A Newer Look at an Older Devil

Saturday Workshop

Saturn has always maintained an outsider status in Astrology. Saturn was the planet associated with Jews, blacks, slaves, the elderly, and the destitute. A far cry from its current connection to rigid authority, oppressive systems, capitalism and the money-class. Saturn is the planet of melancholy and irony. Indeed Saturn speaks to us in ironies because – being the planet of time – hindsight is always 20/20. Where Saturn resides in our horoscope is where we can expect to face our deepest struggles. Saturn will show us where we spite ourselves and Saturn will show us where we succeed despite  ourselves. We will examine Saturn in art, culture, and history as well as in the charts of workshop attendees.

Retrogrades

Friday Night Lecture

“What a retrograde needs is a good obsession.” (Erin Sullivan: Retrograde Planets: Traversing the Inner Landscape.)

Get a grasp on the mechanics of retrograde motion and how it has been interpreted in modern astrology.  We’ll take a look at how other forms of astrology view this condition, and look at it from a “naked-eye” perspective to shed new light on the correct interpretation of retrograde planets in the sky and in the chart.

Blinded by the Light: Planets Conjunct the Sun

Saturday Workshop

Of the hundreds of planetary aspects we astrologers use every day, there is only one which renders a planet invisible: a conjunction with the Sun. Despite the frequency with which this occurs, there is disagreement about how to interpret it. Does visibility matter? Traditional astrologers certainly thought so: modern astrologers, not so much. Join Linea in a fascinating exploration of “combustion,” as this position was traditionally called. Both classical and modern views will be explained, as well as the psychological expression and resolution for this common chart condition. Workshop includes a much deeper look, including techniques from other traditions, a more thorough discussion of astronomy and related mechanics, plus descriptions and chart examples for each planet.
