The Lunar Nodes

Friday Night Lecture

I believe one of the secrets to giving a good astrology reading is to start with an

interpretation of the North and South Node—the Lunar nodes—in the natal horoscope.

Using this as the beginning, even before interpreting the Sun, Moon and Rising signs,

directs the client into how to best use the rest of the reading.

In this talk, I’ll present a working definition of the Lunar Nodes. I’ll spend time talking

about how to take in new experiences at the North Node and give back through the South

Node. This will be clarified through sample horoscopes.

More than any other point in the horoscope, the North Node defines the purpose of this

incarnation. The South Node defines the natural talents that are inherited from the past.

These need to be expressed through the House and Sign of the North Node.

When clients come to an astrologer feeling like their life has lost meaning it usually

means there is a problem harmonizing the natal nodes. I’ll give examples.

In this evening’s talk I will focus primarily on the energy of the North Node. You might

be surprised at the power that can be developed with an expanded awareness of this

potent point of the horoscope.

The North and South Node

Saturday Workshop

We’ll begin with a detailed look at the meaning of the South Node by sign and by natal

house placement. Then we’ll look at the meaning of having a planet conjunct either of

the Nodes and talk about the importance of that planet. I’ll have the horoscopes of some

famous people, and also hope to use examples of the horoscopes of those in attendance.

It’ll be lively!

I encourage participants to bring their own horoscopes and those of several people in

their life. Having this personal connection to the material will make it easier to digest and

more relevant. It may even help you understand why you have attracted certain people

into your life.

People enter our lives for all sorts of reasons. Through the techniques we’ll cover, you’re

sure to discover deeper meanings of each of your relationships.

Lucy Pond Biography

After graduating from the University of Washington (in Humanities) in 1969, I was a little lost.

I thought I would continue going to school and get an MSW and possibly become a social

worker. At that point a friend did my horoscope and it was a life-changing event. About halfway

through his reading I realized I was looking at my future. Rather than going to graduate school

I signed up for astrology classes at the Northwest School of Astrology. I took every class Marc

Robertson taught. There were times when there were only three of us in a class.

Marc directed me into teaching and giving readings soon after I started taking his classes.

Without his encouragement I’m sure I would have been slower to march into what was to

become my life’s work. Long after Marc’s untimely death, he remains a powerful influence for

me. I also met Joanne Wickenburg at this time. Along with Marc Robertson, she is one of the

cornerstones of my astrological foundation.

Over my 40-year career in astrology, I have worn many hats. I co-authored The Metaphysical

Handbook, contributed a chapter to Noel Tyl’s Consciousness in the Horoscope, and have

written articles for The Mountain Astrologer. More recently, I wrote the introduction to a new

book, Reframing Transits, by Joanne Wickenburg. (It’s available as an e-book.) I’ve been the

guest astrologer for call-in radio programs in Hawaii, Vancouver, Bellingham, Seattle, and

Arizona. I’ve hosted several astrological conferences in Seattle and been a guest teacher at

retreats in the Northwest and the Yucatan. I even served a tumultuous year as president of the

Washington State Astrological Society.

My clients throughout the US and in Europe have taught me much about life’s journey and its

challenges. It would have had a far less interesting life without my fascination with astrology

and the people it has brought to me.

I was born with North Node conjunct Venus in my 6th

people, including my husband, have entered my life through my work. After many years in

Seattle, in June 2009 we moved to Portland, which has been a refreshing change.

I continue to have and to enjoy my astrological consulting practice. I give readings via Skype,

telephone or in-person.

Dangerous Women Intro

Friday Night Lecture

7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Location: 3185 NE Regents Dr., Portland, OR 97212 (SUBUD Center)

Our Sumerian ancestors understood the power of Venus in light and dark, as Morning and Evening Star.  They had a clear narrative of her relationship with the Sun — the synodic cycle of Venus — and its implications for death and renewal. How has our traditional astrological Venus been shaped as gender and sex, and what are the consequences for our thinking about feminine life and power? In this workshop, we will look at the mythological past of Venus in order to understand her present, including:

- the 20th century heliacal rise families of Venus, much different than preceding generations, and the consequences for women and for men in that change

-  why and how modern Venus both resembles and is different from traditional Venus, what makes her “dangerous”

- horoscopes and important stars of dangerous women, ancient and modern
