In February of 2017, the OAA offered a scholarship for the Northwest Astrological Conference (NORWAC). OAA member and PSA student Joon Wharton was awarded the scholarship and reported back with this update:
"Up until a few years ago I was mostly interested in reading my (sun sign) horoscope, even though I had been crossing paths with Astrologers for years. My curiosity was piqued in January 2016 when a friend offered me a reading. The language they used in the reading left me wanting to understand the fundamentals of astrology. The opportunity to explore and learn more about it (and myself) opened up later that year when I enrolled at the Portland School of Astrology. I completed the first year program at PSA in the spring of 2017. Astrology is an art and a language that I now engage with every day of my life.
This was my first year at the NORWAC conference. Some of the highlights for me were Demetra George's workshop on the third house goddess, Judith Hill's Astrology of Death, Melanie Reinhart's The I.C. revisited, and one of the best presentations as far as subject matter and immediate applicability was Jenn Zahrt's Dorothean Triplicity rulers.
I am grateful for the opportunity to attend and for the financial support that OAA extended to me so that I could have that experience.
Thank you OAA!"
And thank you Joon! Keep your eye out this winter, we'll be announcing another round of scholarships soon!
