Everything is connected. Perhaps astrology's greatest gift is this reminder -- that we are not alone, not separate, not adrift in a meaningless universe. Planets symbolize the various components and functions of our psyche. They provide information as to how to integrate seemingly conflicting aspects of our personality and life path. By identifying and dialoging with the different parts of our psyche and their drives, we become aware of our patterns and assumptions. We are able to see beyond our social programming and fulfill our divine potential. This evening we’ll explore the archetypal code of each planet, and how to embody their gifts.
My initiation into astrology came in the midst of a huge life change. After traveling for five months in Asia, I enrolled in a Consciousness Studies masters degree program at JKFU in 1984. A year later I had my first astrology reading, switched careers, and became a full time astrological counselor, teacher, and writer by 1993.
I began studying astrology by observing how the charts of friends, family, and anyone with whom I crossed paths, correlated with my experience of them. Watching transits on a daily basis honed my perception to the point when I could feel the rising sign or Moon change signs within a few minutes of their ingress. Classes with Greg Bogart, who had been a student of Dane Rudhyar, and Steven Forrest’s evolutionary approach were also important influences, as well as many years of inner work via Primal therapy, Rosenwork, Aikido, Expressive Arts, A Course in Miracles, Buddhism, Sufism, Shamanism, practitioner trainings at the California Flower Essence Society, and Leslie Temple Thurston’s four year teacher training program.
I specialize in life purpose, career, and relationship readings, and enjoy offering private tutoring as well. I write the New and Full Moon column for the Mt. Astrologer Magazine, and a more extensive version, emailed just before each new and full moon. I have taught classes, workshops, and lectured for various groups since 1988, and have two eBooks, EcoAstrology: Finding Our Way Home, and Life After Twinkies: A Holistic Guide to Dietary Change.
